Mountain leader
Sofia grew up in Innsbruck with the Nordkette at the end of her street. She spent her teens on family hut-to-hut trips, studied geography at university and qualified as an International Mountain Leader in 2016. She has led walking groups in the Alps and Dolomites for ten summers and spends her winters as a ski instructor.
She plans routes around the group in front of her, not around a summit. Each evening she checks the forecast, talks to hut keepers and asks how legs are feeling before choosing the next day's walk, and she always has a shorter option ready. Her briefings are short and clear: distance, ascent, where the toilets and huts are, and what to do if the weather turns.
Sofia leads High Trails of the Dolomites from Hotel Ciasa Lärch, and the walks on Light & Land with Daniel Moreau. On a hiking day you meet after breakfast for a ten-minute route briefing, set off around 08:30 and walk at a steady, chatty pace with regular stops. Days range from 10 km with 500 m of ascent to a 16 km summit day with 900 m, with a 9 km alternative. Lunch is at a mountain hut or packed, and the day ends with a guided stretch back at the hotel. She also teaches simple navigation for anyone who wants to read the map.
High Trails asks for good fitness: you should be comfortable walking five or six hours on uneven paths. You don't need alpine experience, ropes or scrambling skills. On Light & Land the walks are shorter and slower, built around the light rather than the distance.
Out of season Sofia teaches skiing in the Stubai valley and leads guided walks in Tyrol for small private groups. She also led Late Summer Trails in September 2026: twelve guests, four hikes and one memorable storm.
